BIOGRAPHY

As a percussionist with the Singapore Wind Symphony Percussion Ensemble, Tan Lee Ying has performed extensively at international music festivals and competitions. She received Gold with Distinction in the 17th World Music Contest First Division held in Kerkrade; and Gold in the 18th World Music Contest, World/Open Division held in Heerlen.

Her collaborations with renowned percussionists, Dirk Wucherpfennig, David Herbert, Max Riefer and Gifford Howarth led her to explore and delve into diverse musical styles. Her first composition, titled ‘Chillstep’, was commissioned by the Singapore Wind Symphony Percussion Ensemble.

 

With a BA(Hons) in Classical Percussion from Goldsmiths, University of London, Lee Ying teaches percussion ensembles in local arts schools, primary schools, school for children with hearing loss, as well as establishing the Music & Movement preschool program at The Music Connection.
